Unit 1 of Barakah Plant begins Commercial Operations, delivering clean electricity to the nation

Nawah Energy Company, the operations and maintenance subsidiary of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), is pleased to confirm that Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi has commenced commercial operations, a historic milestone for clean electricity in the UAE. Generating 1,400 MW of clean electricity 24/7, Unit 1 is now the largest single generator connected to the UAE grid, and the largest source of clean baseload electricity in the country.
