Leadership & Governance

To ensure the success and future development of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program, ENEC established the Nuclear Corporation in 2016: a governance structure that meets the highest standards of safety, quality, security and operational transparency for the next phases of the program, including the operation of the four units of the Barakah plant.

The Nuclear Corporation takes on the lessons learned since 2009 and establishes a governance structure that is engineered to meet the highest standards of quality, security and operational transparency

To achieve this, ENEC announced the Joint Venture partnership with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), as well as the launch of two key companies: Nawah Energy Company and Barakah One Company. KEPCO is a minority shareholder of Nawah Energy Company and Barakah One Company, holding 18% stakes in each company.

ENEC has established a streamlined governance structure that is best suited for leading the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program. As the key entity within this Nuclear Corporation, ENEC has the right governing structures in place to continue to lead and support the delivery of the Barakah project and the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program.

Furthermore, ENEC understands that strong leadership is vital to the development of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program. With that in mind, the program is guided by a Board of Directors with members representing excellence in the nuclear, corporate and government fields, and an Executive Management Team with a proven track record of positive results.

We have established a strong governance philosophy and code of ethics that drives our business excellence and quality assurance missions, and enables us to meet and exceed our international standards and certifications requirements.
