H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Witnesses Significant Progress at Barakah

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was hosted by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation’s (ENEC) CEO, Mohamed Al Hammadi, Acting CEO of Nawah Energy Company Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi, and other senior management, during a visit to the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant on 28 of February. The Minister received an update on the project and toured a number of facilities, including the main control room and turbine building of Unit 1, the most advanced of the four units of the plant.

 

During the tour of Unit 1’s facilities, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah witnessed the continued progress from construction to commissioning of the plant. The visit included an update on ENEC’s Culture of Safety and specific demonstrations on how work-related safety and meeting the highest quality standards are prioritized at Barakah.

 

Teams from ENEC, its subsidiaries Barakah One Company and Nawah Energy Company, along with its Joint Venture partner the Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), have recently achieved a series of construction milestones. In 2016 alone, important tests were completed on Unit 1, the Reactor Containment Building Liner Dome section was installed in Unit 3 and the Turbine Generator Operating Deck, Reactor Containment Liner Plate Rings and Condenser were installed in Unit 4.
