The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is responsible for the implementation of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program including the development of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Through its Joint Venture Agreement with the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), ENEC co-owns two subsidiary companies – Barakah One Company and Nawah Energy Company (Nawah).

Nawah is the company mandated to operate and maintain the four Units of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. It holds the Operating Licenses for Units 1&2 and will hold the licenses for Units 3&4 once they are approved by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.  

Working together through this strong governance framework, the three companies ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Barakah Plant, generating clean electricity for the UAE for the next 60 or more years.

Barakah One Company represents the commercial interests of the Barakah Project, manages all commercial relationships and the sale of electricity generated at Barakah to the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC).
