ENEC To Host Public Forums On Nuclear Energy In Ruwais And Dubai

ENEC CEO, Mohamed Al Hammadi and senior officials to host forums to increase awareness and understanding of the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program
Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), will host two ENEC Forums in Ruwais, in Abu Dhabi’s Western Region, and Dubai in partnership with the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and DEWA. The forums will be staged next week as part of ENEC’s ongoing series of community meetings which aim to increase the awareness and understanding of the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program.
The ENEC Forums are open to everyone and have been regularly held across the country over the last three years. More than 2,500 UAE citizens have attended the ENEC Forums which have taken place in various locations across the Western Region, Abu Dhabi, Fujeirah and Sharjah.
The schedule for the upcoming forums is the following:
Ruwais ENEC Forum in collaboration with the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region
- Date: Monday, 18th March o Venue: Higher Colleges of Technology – Ruwais Men’s College
- Time: 7:00pm o Session conducted in Arabic Dubai ENEC Forum, in collaboration with DEWA
- Date: Wednesday, 20th March
- Raffles Hotel ballroom
- Time: 7:00pm
- Session conducted in Arabic with English simultaneous translation
The ENEC Forums are hosted by ENEC CEO, Mohamed Al Hammadi and senior officials from the organization.
The presentations are designed to raise awareness on nuclear energy as a safe, clean, reliable and efficient source of electricity and tackle the myths surrounding radiation and electricity generation. ENEC also offers a series of scholarships and career opportunities at the Forum through its Energy Pioneers program, the Human Capacity Development program designed to attract talented human resources to the upcoming nuclear energy sector.
ENEC HR officials present at the Forum will also outline the wide range of career opportunities in the nuclear energy sector that are open to both science students looking to kick-start their careers and to experienced professionals seeking a new challenge.
ENEC expects to employ more than 2,000 employees by 2020, with a target of 60 per cent Emiratization. ENEC has entered into several strategic partnerships with a number of local and international education and training institutions to develop its scholarships program and offer a range of degrees including Diplomas, Bachelors and Masters. Those attending the forum will be able to learn more about these scholarships and how to become part of its Energy Pioneers program.
ENEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Al Hammadi, said: “These forums have been very successful in helping ENEC to openly engage and closely interact with residents who want to learn more about nuclear energy, ENEC and the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program. We remain committed to working closely with the community right across the UAE to hear their views and answer their questions in a transparent and open manner. This is a program that is for the benefit of the whole country, and it’s vitally important that residents have the opportunity to fully understand it.”
Residents will also learn about the latest developments in ENEC’s program as it prepares to build and operate the nation’s first nuclear energy plants which are scheduled to begin delivering electricity to the grid in 2017.
