ENEC Raises UAE Flag On Unit 1 Of The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant

In response to the invitation extended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) today raised the UAE flag at Unit 1 of Barakah NPP.

The flag, which is the largest to be displayed at the site in the Western Region, was raised at a height of 40 metres; it weighs 350kg, and is 30 metres in length. The ceremony was in the attendance of some of ENEC’s management and staff from different departments.

Mohamed Al Hammadi, ENEC’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is a very significant day in the UAE’s national calendar, and is considered as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to our country and the leadership of our nation. ENEC is proud to display the UAE flag at Barakah NPP – an important part of the future social and economic growth of the country.”

“The invitation to celebrate this special day which commemorates the day His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan assumed his position as President of the UAE will motivate the people of this country to double their work and effort, support its wise leadership and raise the UAE’s name amongst other countries."
