A root cause analysis is being conducted to determine the conditions that led to the accident. Initial reports indicate that a worker employed by DOW, a subcontractor to KEPCO, fell during a schedule break from conducting steel beam installation works in Barakah Unit 4.
The Barakah Command and Communication Center dispatched all emergency services to the accident site. Emergency responders arrived to the site of the accident to commence medical treatment but the injuries sustained from the fall were fatal.
While the cause of the accident remains unclear, ENEC enforced a Stop Work Order to suspend all construction activities at Barakah while the on-site investigation took place.
