09 October 2020: Update on COVID-19 Measures at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant

09.10.20

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) stands in solidarity with the global community in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to impact nations around the world.

ENEC has been working in close coordination with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, and under the regulatory requirements of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) to implement comprehensive measures to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees and contractors, along with the safety of the Barakah site.

Since the start of the pandemic, ENEC has enforced social distancing, mandatory mask wearing, and has undertaken a robust and systematic testing program, alongside implementing stringent site access and departure procedures.

ENEC and its subsidiaries remain in regular contact with other operating plants through the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) to share experiences and learnings between operating plants globally. We are continuing to monitor the situation, in order to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of our colleagues remains our top priority.
