Western Region Activity
ENEC looks forward to creating a comprehensive, productive and long-term partnership with the people of the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.
We are operating under the regulations of the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, to develop programs that will preserve and protect the local environment – both marine and land.
The Western Region stands to benefit in many ways as home to the UAE’s first nuclear energy fleet.
The program will create many jobs for residents and stimulate the economic development in the region.
Over the life of the program, ENEC will support and invest in the Western Region community and economy to support its sustainable growth.
To achieve this, we are working closely with the Western Region Development Council, the Western Region Municipality and the Urban Planning Council.
Glossary:
Nuclear energy
The energy that is released during a nuclear reaction. Splitting atoms (fission) and fusing atoms (fusion) both release nuclear energy. Today's nuclear power plants use fission to produce energy, which allow them to generate electricity on a large scale.
